Happy Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is tomorrow and what a grand holiday it is!  Well, I think so. 2014-05-10_13-59-15_314--1 This is my first Mother’s Day as a grandmother!  Our first grandbaby was born less than a month ago and what a blessing she is! In the United States, the second Sunday in May is the national holiday to honor mothers and motherhood.  This is the day we celebrate mothers, grandmothers, and all who have a strong maternal presence in our lives. While flowers and/or a card are the all time standard, there are many ways to show Mom how much you appreciate all she has done for you. Here are a few ideas.

  • Make and serve her breakfast in bed.
  • Plan a day out with your mother.  This could also include the whole family.
  • Take her out to eat.  Have her pick her favorite place and let her sit back and enjoy.
  • Buy a gift – something you know she really would like to have but would never buy herself.

If you don’t live close, a phone call is a must.  Just taking the time to call says so very much, and it will make her day! This year my Mom asked for yellow flowers to put by her back door. That was easy.  I just added a whole lot of love!

Begin Again…

2014-05-06_11-16-10_967Spring is finally here!

Or so I think.

Yes, I know spring landed over a month ago, but April brought way too cool temps instead of spring showers.  The last several days have been warmer.  Hooray!

I finally have most of my herbs, plants and flowers put in their appropriate planters.  I have several marigolds but I’m not sure where they belong.  And I think I need a few more rosemary, thyme and oregano plants.  Other than that, I am pretty much done.  :)

Spring is the season of rebirth and renewal.

Chirping birds waiting to begin building their nest.  Newborn calves and lambs (and other newborns – but more about that on another post!).

Buds turning into leaves and flowers.  Green blades of grass popping up (and getting the lawn mower running).

Spring is the season of cleaning out, cleaning up and starting over.  The air outside is new and fresh – bring that feeling inside. Go through that closet.  If you haven’t worn it, used it or even knew you had it in the last 2 years, it goes.  Give it away.

Spring is the season of new beginnings. I can’t think of  a better reason to celebrate!
